You've mastered sending messages and now want to let your child roam with their Karri Messenger but still want to be able to check in on them. This article will show you how to track your Messenger, plus check battery and signal levels.
Track your Karri Messenger
Tracking your Karri Messenger is simple! In the KarriApp, tap the 'Locator' button in the bottom left corner of your screen. This will take you to the map where you will see a pin with the location of your device.
If you have multiple Karri Messengers, you will see them listed at the top of the screen. Select one for it to be the focus.
Check your Karri Messenger status
Tapping the pin of the Karri Messenger you want to check will bring up the status page for that Messenger. This shows whether there is GPS coverage, network coverage (phone signal) and the battery life of the device. You can also put the Messenger in silent mode.
You can also view this status page by opening the Karri menu and selecting the Messenger you would like to view.
Karri Messengers work with multiple phone networks so it's unlikely that your Messenger will be without signal for long but some buildings may block signal when inside.
If you are finding that your Messenger doesn't have signal in an area where you can usually receive phone signal, please contact our Customer Support Team. Additionally, if your Messenger is constantly searching for a signal, this can drain its battery faster. Connecting to a Wi-Fi network can help reduce this issue.
Change your GPS Update Frequency
Changing the frequency of GPS Updates can greatly improve the battery life of your Messenger. As standard, your Karri Messenger will update its location every 3 minutes. You can decrease this to 1 minute or increase to a maximum of 10 minutes. You can also turn the GPS tracking off altogether.
Increasing the time between check-ins will greatly improve battery life on your Messenger as it stops the device having to report its location so regularly.
To change the frequency of GPS Updates, tap the Karri menu within your App and then select the Messenger that you would like to change.
Then, simply tap the GPS Updates section and move the slider to your preferred setting. You can change this at any time, in case you want to save battery or check in more regularly! For broader battery optimization, consider turning off the device when not in use and ensuring firmware updates are completed after powering on the device.
